Hi, I’m Chris
My name is Chris L Vaughan and I’m a 35-year-old disabled person writing about family, parenting and navigating the world with cerebral palsy. My experiences as a disabled parent and embracing my cerebral palsy have been published in The New York Times, USA Today and Writer’s Digest.
I’ve recently completed writing a memoir about embracing my disability after hiding it in youth while navigating a traumatic family life with my sister who raised me. I’m looking for an agent to help me publish the memoir. Email me: Chrisllvaughan@gmail.com
I’ve also been in the publishing business for fifteen years working at Condé Nast and Gannett. I’m an accomplished journalist and interviewed everyone from politicians to Marc Maron, Jason Isbell and a member of Talking Heads.
I talk to schools and organizations about my 30-year journey accepting my disability. This year I’ve talked to big and intimate groups about disability. I’m currently available speaking engagements.
I have a Substack called Unclenching by Chris L Vaughan where I write about disability, parenting, fashion and a lot in between. Here’s a bit more about it: I’m a disabled dad with cerebral palsy of the right side dodging joggers and puddles on morning stroller walks with my toddler Noah. These pieces (essays?) about navigating parenthood with a disability start in my head on those neighborhood jaunts and get written down during Noah’s ever-shrinking naps. Read the Substack here.
I live in Tarrytown, NY with my family. Reach out to me at chrisllvaughan@gmail.com
